Combo Freeski/Ride Progression

Not sure if your athlete wants to spend the day in the park or drop into natural features—that’s exactly what The Combo or Hybrid Freeski/Ride program is built for. Progression athletes can mix it up, dedicating time to park and pipe one day and exploring the mountain for natural terrain and lines the next.

Ages

The Progression Team is designed for U12 and U14 athletes (ages 10–13). We understand that moving to a full competition team at U14 isn’t always the right fit, so this program offers a strong option to continue developing in a supportive team environment.

When

This is a two-day-per-week program (Saturday and Sunday). Athletes have the opportunity to participate in 1–2 IFSA and/or USASA travel competitions within our division, as well as the Michael B. Young event at Bogus.

Additional Costs

Additional Expenses & Requirements

  • A Bogus Basin Season Pass is required and is not included in team fees.
  • Licensing is required for participation in Big Mountain competitions and is not included in team fees. Big Mountain licensing is completed through IFSA (International Freeskiers Association).
  • An additional coaching travel fee applies to each event and is not included in team fees. Trip/coach fees cover the cost of coaches' lodging, transportation, and per diems associated with the specific event and are due before each event. Cancellations made less than 5 days before an event (after invoicing) are still responsible for the associated coaching fees.

Travel/Competitions Costs

Each competition, camp, and training trip has a separate cost in addition to tuition/team fees. Trip fees are due prior to each event. Cancellations made less than 5 days before an event (after invoicing) are still responsible for associated trip and coach fees.

Parents or guardians typically arrange athlete travel. The team often arrives a day early to allow time for venue inspection and familiarization.

U19 athletes may opt, during registration, to pay an additional fee for team travel with coaches. In these cases, coaches will coordinate transportation and lodging arrangements for competitions. Coaches will arrange travel accommodations for these athletes. Full details available in the BBSEF Travel policy under the "Resources" tab and during registration in the BBSEF Travel Policy agreement.

Academic Expectations

Athletes are expected to effectively manage their time between training, travel, and school commitments while maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.

Athlete Safety

U.S. Ski and Snowboard and the U.S. Center for SafeSport provide many free resources for parents who want to educate themselves and their children on Athlete Safety.

As an example, parents are encouraged to complete the Parent’s Guide to Misconduct in Sports. We also encourage parents to take an age-appropriate SafeSport course from the menu below with their children.
