Ability

Participants must have at least one winter's skiing experience. Must be able to independently load, ride and unload the chairlift alone. Must be able to stop on their own, and should be able to put on their own ski equipment. Participants will explore the entire mountain in a fun and safe learning environment. Bogus Basin season passes are not included and must be purchased from Bogus Basin.

Mitey Mites U8 (6 & 7 yrs)

BBSEF Mitey Mites is an introductory program designed for ages 6 & 7 (U8) with basic skiing skills.  Our focus is on having fun while learning skills that will develop a great all-around skier.  Mitey Mites spend most of their time learning by free skiing with experienced coaches.  We keep skiing and learning FUN!

Alpine Devo U10+ (8-14 yrs)

The Alpine Development "Devo" team is designed to introduce and refine the skills required to advance within BBSEF’s alpine and freeride programs. Coaches teach age-appropriate skill progression utilizing U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Skills Quest training system consistent with BBSEF’s team-building philosophies, with a strong FUNdamental emphasis

Training Days

All BBSEF Teams meet in front of the Jason Harper Training Center, located between the Pioneer (upper) lodge and the Bitterroot chairlift.

Home Team Coaches/Athletes meet at their assigned country flag.

9:25 am - Meet at flags(JHTC) boots on ready to go.

9:30 am – Groups leave for morning training.

11:45 am -Meet at flags parent supervised lunch

12:30 pm - Meet coaches at flags- afternoon training

3:00 pm - Parents pick up athletes at flags.


Please note, It is not possible to switch training or competition days during the season.

Coaches Cup Competitions

Home Team Athletes will participate in the Coaches Cup Series. This series is designed to expose the groups to the different disciplines of skiing in a friendly competition environment. Events may include: Giant Slalom and Slalom, Galende Jump. During the Coaches Cup Finale we add a Big Mountain or Slopestyle competition.

Participants compete on the same day they train. Saturday athletes compete on Saturday. Sunday athletes compete on Sunday.

Additional Training Opportunities

Christmas Camp:

Additional registration for BBSEF Members, January 2 & 3. You may choose either or bothl days. The training schedule is the same as our Saturday/Sunday training schedule.


Wednesday Night Option:

U12 Athletes (ages 10+) may add on Wednesday night training. Wednesday night training begins in January and includes bus transportation.

What is a U-Class? 

Your U (Under) Class is the age group that you will compete in. Each U class is specific to age on Dec. 31st:

  • U8 = ages 6-7
  • U10 = ages 8-9
  • U12 = ages 10-11
  • U14 = ages 12-13
  • U16 = ages 14-15

What equipment is needed?

  • Warm Winter jacket
  • Snow pants
  • Base layer
  • Ski Socks
  • Goggles, gloves (two pairs for snowy days), and neck gator 
  • One pair of skis, preferably all mountain skis, snowboard for Snowboard team members
  • Ski poles that are the right size (does not apply to snowboard)
  • Boots that fit and that are age appropriate
  • A proper ski helmet that fits
  • Sunscreen that can be permanently located in your child’s jacket
  • A good backpack to transport all gear to and from the mountain
  • Bogus Basin Season Pass (not included in BBSEF team fees)


ATHLETE SAFETY

U.S. Ski and Snowboard and the U.S. Center for SafeSport provide many free resources for parents who want to educate themselves and their children on Athlete Safety.

As an example, parents are encouraged to complete the Parent’s Guide to Misconduct in Sports. We also encourage parents to take an age-appropriate SafeSport course from the menu below with their children.

2024.2025

BBSEF 24.25 Registration will open on May 1, 2024.

The Mitey Mite team is for ages 6 & 7. The Alpine Devo team is for skiers ages 8-14. 

Participants of these teams choose either the Saturday program or the Sunday program and that is your day for the entire season! Please Note:  It is not possible to switch days during the season

Training Season December 21/22 through March 8/9. Training Times - 9:30 a - 3:00 p.


There is no training on December 28/29, and February 15/16 (Presidents weekend.)
