Freeski/ride Devo Home
The Freeski Development (Devo) Team is for skiers ages 8–13. This group builds on fundamental skiing skills while emphasizing safety awareness, team camaraderie, and sportsmanship. Athletes will explore the entire mountain in a fun, supportive environment—skiing steeps, bumps, groomers, powder, crud, trees, race courses, and introductory park features such as rails/boxes and jumps.
If your child is at least 10 years old and interested in divisional competitions, please refer to the Progression Team under the Big Mountain program tab.
Bogus Basin season passes are not included and must be purchased from Bogus Basin.
Ability
Participants must be able to ski at an intermediate level and should be comfortable skiing down the entire Deer Point area and Lower Nugget, Wild Cat, and Paradise runs on the Pine Creek Chair and Nighthawk, Triumph, and War Eagle on the Superior Chair.

Training Days
All BBSEF Teams meet in front of the Jason Harper Training Center, located between the Pioneer (upper) lodge and the Bitterroot chairlift.
Home Team Coaches/Athletes meet at their assigned country flag.
9:25 am - Meet at flags(JHTC) boots on ready to go.
9:30 am – Groups leave for morning training.
11:45 am -Meet at flags parent supervised lunch
12:30 pm - Meet coaches at flags- afternoon training
3:00 pm - Parents pick up athletes at flags.
Coaches Cup Competitions
Athletes will participate in the Coaches Cup Series. This series is designed to expose the groups to the different disciplines of skiing in a friendly competition environment. Events may include, Big Mountain, Slopestyle, Galende Jump, Giant Slalom and Slalom. Participants compete on the same day they train. Saturday athletes compete on Saturday. Sunday athletes compete on Sunday.
Additional Training Opportunities
Christmas Camp is an optional additional training opportunity available for an additional fee. Dates for the 2026–27 season are TBD. Registration details will be shared via email in December.dd
What is a U-Class? Your U (Under) Class is the age group that you will compete in. Each U class is specific to age on Dec. 31st:
- U8 = ages 6-7
- U10 = ages 8-9
- U12 = ages 10-11
- U14 = ages 12-13

What Gear and Items Are Needed?
- A Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area season pass (not included in BBSEF team fees)
- One pair of all-mountain skis or a snowboard for Snowboard team members
- A properly fitting ski/snowboard helmet
- Goggles
- Gloves (two pairs recommended for snowy days)
- Neck gaiter
- Ski poles (appropriate size; not required for snowboarders)
- Boots that fit and are age-appropriate
- Warm winter jacket
- Snow pants
- Base layer (non-cotton, moisture-wicking top and bottom worn under outerwear)
- Ski socks
Additional Items:
- Sunscreen that can remain in your child’s jacket
- A backpack to transport gear to and from the mountain
ATHLETE SAFETY
U.S. Ski and Snowboard and the U.S. Center for SafeSport provide many free resources for parents who want to educate themselves and their children on Athlete Safety.
As an example, parents are encouraged to complete the Parent’s Guide to Misconduct in Sports. We also encourage parents to take an age-appropriate SafeSport course from the menu below with their children.

The Freeski Devo Team is for skiers ages 8-14. Devo Team fees are $910.00 during Spring Registration.
Don’t miss the deadline—spring registration ends May 14, and team fees increase May 15
Participants choose either the Saturday or Sunday program at registration, and that will be their training day for the entire season. Please note that it is not possible to switch days during the season.
Program fees are non-refundable, except in cases of injury or relocation out of the area. For full details, please review the complete refund policy available during registration and under the Resources tab.
Training Times - 9:30 a - 3:00 p.
Training Season Dec.19/20 through March 6/7.
We will not train December 26/27 (Christmas) or February 13/14 (Presidents' weekend)
