College of Idaho – Bachelor’s in Health and Human Performance

Sarah was born to ski. Her dad grew up ski racing and couldn’t wait to introduce both Sarah and her sister Hannah to the sport. We are sure glad that he did! Sarah remembers well what it was like to join Mitey Mites at age 7 and draws on that experience to coach today’s home team racers. Judging by the smiles on her athletes’ faces, it is working.

An Alpine racer herself through high school, Sarah has lots of fun growing-up-on-the-slopes memories. “Oh boy, how to choose only one... I have so many memories that I have shared with my family on the hill and with my built-in family, the Rosins. One of my most favorite memories was going to McCall for the winter carnival games and having my whole family there including my grandparents.”

When the snow melts, Sarah enjoys spending time on the lake with her family, going for hikes with her dog and eating lots of ice cream. This summer she will add looking into graduate programs to the list. “But in the meantime," she said,  "I am just enjoying some time without homework.”

It is a well-earned recess for this hard-charging racer and coach.

Congratulations Sarah!

Senior Feature – Jack C.

Capital High School

“He's all in.” Ask anyone who knows Jack about his relationship to ski racing, and that is what you will hear. Jack joined Mitey Mites at age 7 and the fire was lit. He grew stronger and faster with each passing year, and his passion for ski racing deepened into a commitment to train hard, work hard and push himself as fast and as far as he can go.

“When I'm not skiing, I think about skiing,” said Jack. In the off-season his focus on racing continues with dryland, weight training and summer ski camps. He has been known to devote considerable time studying the arcs and lines of World Cup legends.

Jack’s favorite memories include qualifying for and getting to race at the 2018 Western Region Champs in Aleyeska, Alaska. This season he qualified for the Elite FIS Tech series at Squaw Valley and Sugar Bowl as well.

When asked about his start on skis he said, “It was just part of the family culture.” Safe to say he is kicking the family love of skiing up a notch. Jack plans to take a gap year and spend the 2021/22 season in Jackson Hole’s Post Graduate program for U18-U21 athletes. Then it is off to Maine in the fall of 2022 where he will study hard and turn it loose as a member of the Colby College Alpine Ski Team.

As for advice he might offer to his 6-year-old self? “It’s a journey, not a sprint.”

Here's to taking the Alpine journey all the way!

Congratulations Jack and Good Luck!

Senior Feature - Aurora Rosin

Aurora Rosin

BBA, Information Technology Management and Data Analytics

Boise State University

Hey Bridger Bowl and Big Sky, roll out the welcome mat because Aurora Rosin is coming your way! Coach Aurora is taking her newly minted Bachelor of Business Administration degree to Bozeman, Montana where she will launch her career in Data Analytics.

Aurora joined BBSEF as a Mitey Mite in the second grade and has been carving turns and putting smiles on faces ever since. She credits her dad with instilling her and her sisters with a love of skiing. “He loves skiing and wanted us to love it as much as he does.”

Aurora raced as a member of the North Series and Alpine Competitive teams. Some of her favorite memories involve trips to Anthony Lakes for the Super G race. Her family and other BBSEF ski families traveled together and camped slope side. “Parents were allowed to race, and it was so funny to watch all the dads trying to fit into speed suits,” she said.

At 15, Aurora exchanged her race skis for a coach jacket and has been sharing her love of skiing with Mitey Mites ever since. When asked what she would tell her 6-year-old self about life on skis, Aurora said, “Have fun with it. Do the runs that make you scared.”

With her passions for skiing, hiking and mountain biking, Aurora will get to live her own advice as she explores the hills and trails of Montana. We can’t wait to hear about her adventures!

Best of luck Aurora!
